Tuttnauer Parts:

Troubleshooting: This troubleshooting chart enables the user to solve minor malfunctions, prior to requesting service. Only technical personnel having proper qualifications and holding technical documentation and adequate information are authorized to service the apparatus.

This Applies to All "E" Series Autoclaves

Models1730E, 1730EK, 2340E,2340EA, 2340EK, 2340EKA, 2540E, 2540EA, 2540EH, 2540EHS, 2540EK, 2540 EKA, 3870E, 3870EA, 3870EH, 3870EHS, EZ9 & EZ10

Low Temp: This message is displayed, the Cycle Fail indicator lights and the cycle is aborted if the temperature drops 2.5°C (4.5°F) below the required sterilization temperature.

  1. Insufficient water in the Chamber (see Low Water message)
  2. The sterilization phase of the cycle has been set for too long a period of time, allowing the Chamber water to boil away, and the Chamber to run dry
  3. The Safety Thermostat is opening prematurely, turning off the Heating Elements (this only applies to units with Microprocessors dated earlier than T93N5 or T93N6)
  4. A bad Temperature Sensor

Low Heat: Low Heat refers to the temperature in the Chamber before sterilization has begun

  1. No power to the Heating Elements
  2. Bad Heating Elements
  3. Very low line voltage delaying heat up
  4. Safety Thermostat is opening prematurely, turning off the Heating Elements (This only applies to units with Microprocessors dated earlier than T93N5 or T93N6)
  5. A clogged Air Jet
  6. An Air Outlet Valve is stuck closed

Low Water:

  1. Insufficient water entered the Chamber at the beginning of the cycle. Check for proper leveling, a dirty or shorted Water Sensing Electrode, a clogged Water Pump, a partially clogged line or that the Air Outlet V alve is stuck closed
  2. A leaky Solenoid Valve, Safety Valve, Air Jet, Door Gasket, Door Bellows or a pipe fitting is allowing water or steam to escape at a higher than normal rate
  3. A power down has occurred and on power up if the water Electrode tip is dry the Low Water message will be displayed

Add Water: Not enough water in the reservoir

If the reservoir has a sufficient amount of water in the reservoir, and the add water message is still being given, then the Reservoir Water Level Switch must be replaced.

Low Pressure:

  1. Insufficient water in the Chamber ( see Low Water message)
  2. The Heating Elements not cycling on and off properly
  3. Problem with the Solid State Relay
  4. Problem with the control circuit
  5. Bad Heating Elements -- not producing enough wattage
  6. The Safety Thermostat is opening prematurely, turning off the Heating Elements -- this only applies to units with Microprocessors dated earlier than T93N5 or T93N6
  7. A bad Pressure Transducer

High Temp:

  1. The Heating Elements are remaining on instead of cycling on and off
  2. Check for a shorted Solid State Relay, shorted Heating Element or other short circuit
  3. This message can ALSO indicate a bad Temperature Sensor - the message will display any time during the Heat Up phase

High Pressure:

  1. The Heating Elements are remaining on instead of cycling on and off. Check for a shorted Solid State Relay, shorted Heating Element or other short circuit
  2. The Sterilization temperature has been set above 274°F
